White bashes Couture: “he’s the furthest thing from Captain America”

When the news started coming out that UFC legend Randy Couture had signed a contract with Spike TV (and Bellator), I had a feeling things were about to get ugly. I was right. Dana White has responded with some not-so-nice things about The Natural. And while fans may be surprised by what White had to say, Dana says the people who know Couture won’t be surprised at all.

“I can tell you this. Randy Couture comes off as the greatest guy in the world, Captain America,” said White. “He’s the furthest thing from it. I’m happy to not be in business with him anymore. Now I don’t ever have to be in business with him ever again.”

That’s pretty cut and dry isn’t it? You don’t have to read between the lines to understand that Dana is pissed and betrayed that Couture signed with the competition. Filming of for Bellator’s reality show begins this month. Couture will be one of the coaches.

When White was asked if his words would come as a shock to fans of Couture—who was as popular a fighter as anyone during his long UFC career—White wasn’t so sure about that. “Not for a lot of people who know him, it won’t be (a surprise). 99.9% of the people who know him, that won’t be shocking at all.”

I’ll tell you what would have been shocking…if White had remained silent on Couture’s signing a contract with SpikeTV and agreeing to appear on Bellator’s reality show. That would have been shocking.
