gsp_According to one superstar, Anderson Silva is in trouble. Georges St-Pierre is stating emphatically that Chris Weidman will upend Silva’s seven year winning streak at UFC 162. And that’s not all. The welterweight champ is saying that Weidman will end it quickly too.

“When I see him in training, I believe he’s going to beat Anderson Silva,” he recently told Sportsnet. “I believe it’s a bad matchup for Anderson Silva. It’s very bad.”

He continued with an even bigger prediction. “Not only is he going to beat, I believe he’s going to finish Anderson Silva,” he went on. “I believe it’s not going to be too long, that fight. People will be shocked.”

GSP and Weidman are friends and frequently cross paths for training purposes, so this type of statement isn’t absurd. It’s natural for fighters to lean heavily toward their training partners when picking fights. But still, St-Pierre knows a thing or two about fighting so his opinions shouldn’t be dismissed.

As to why Silva eventually chose to fight Weidman after shrugging off his challenges in the past, GSP has some interesting thoughts. He suggested that because Weidman’s recent injury sidelined him for so long, Silva felt the advantage turned in his favor greatly. St-Pierre said that this is “the best time to fight” Weidman, in The Spider’s eyes.
