Nate Diaz & Cesar Gracie Splitsville — kinda

Nate Diaz has severed ties with Cesar Gracie…as a manager at least. Ariel Helwani reported that Diaz has hired a new manager, Mike Kogan and parted ways with Gracie. Kogan also represents fighters such as Roy Nelson and Muhammad “King Mo” Lawal.

Despite reaching out for new management, Gracie will remain Diaz’s trainer, and a major part of his career. Diaz is set to face Josh Thomson later this month at UFC on Fox. In case you were wondering if Nate’s older brother Nick also made the jump to a new manager, you must have forgot about something. Nick Diaz is retired (unless he gets a rematch with GSP or—inexplicably—a middleweight title shot at Anderson Silva), therefore has no need for a manager. Or so he says.

You might remember after Nick’s loss, Gracie actually expressed concern with being a manager to the Diaz brothers. He talked about the added stress of trying to be both manager and trainer and forecasted the possibility of this move.
