‘King Mo’ is Back! Quick KO puts him in Tourney Finals

king-moSeth Petruzelli might be best known for his quick destruction of Kimbo Slice—a result Elite XC wasn’t counting on. Soon after their biggest star was KO’d in 14 seconds by Petruzelli, the company disappeared. So there must have been some apprehension by Bellator officials that the same thing could happen again.

Not so. Petruzelli was on the receiving end of a vicious KO this time. It came at the hands of Muhammed Lawal, Bellator’s biggest free agent signing to date. King Mo’s 1st round win was quick, violent and emphatic. It nearly erases the upset loss he suffered in his promotional debut and restores him as one of the faces of the company.

Mo will next face Jacob Noe in the finals of the light heavyweight tournament July 31. Noe defeated veteran Babalu Sobral earlier in the evening in what turned out to be the final fight of Sobral’s storied career. The long list of opponents Babalu has faced includes Fedor, Henderson, Liddell, Shogun, Sonnen and more.

I’m sure Bellator officials can breathe a sigh of relief to have King Mo in the tourney finals. He is perhaps the highest profile fighter on their roster (Rampage and Eddie Alvarez are the others), and being able to market him as the headliner attract a much higher level of viewership.
