lew-polleyYou may have been watching WSOF this weekend and wondered why one of the fights was scrapped. Well, it’s because one of the fighters missed weight—reportedly by 32 pounds. Lew Polley, who you may remember found some controversy as one of the coaches for Junior Dos Santos’ team on The Ultimate Fighter 13, didn’t officially weigh in for his light heavyweight bout against Hans Stringer.

Insiders at the event say Polley was at 237 pounds for his 205 pound fight. We’re not sure what happened, but 32 pounds is monumental. Now Polley has a plan B. He’s heading to heavyweight. Polley will replace injured James Wilson to face Olympian Steve Mocco at RFA 9 this week.

It’s a bit of good fortune for Polley—and RFA. Already with a full training camp under his belt, Polley isn’t taking this fight on short notice in the usual sense. He’s got a different opponent, but he should be physically ready for the fight. Likewise, RFA was in a bad spot with the late injury to Stringer. Polley stepping in gives the promising Mocco a legitimate test.
