belfort-hendersonHere’s a sequel that took forever to happen. Although it isn’t quite official yet, it appears that we’re very close to seeing Dan Henderson vs. Vitor Belfort, part 2 later this year. UFC Tonight reported that the fight would likely be held in Brazil on November 9.

It seems these guys just fought yesterday—well, not really. It was at Pride 32 almost 7 years ago. Henderson took home a decision victory that night, and then knocked out Wanderlei Silva a couple months later to capture the Pride middleweight (205) title before moving on to the UFC. For Belfort, that fight marked the time when he tested for high level of testosterone, resulting in a nine month suspension.

The Phenom is currently on a 2 fight winning streak. Back to back knockouts of Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold have put Belfort in line for another middleweight title shot perhaps. The 42 year old Henderson has dropped his last 2 fights—split decisions to Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans.

We don’t know for sure, but I would expect this fight to take place at light heavyweight. Henderson has expressed his desire to stay away from the 185 pound weight cut; and Belfort has said he has no interest in fighting at middleweight, unless it’s against the champ.
