Guess how Carlos Condit sees the GSP/Hendricks fight going?

gsp_I always find it interesting to hear what fighters think of an upcoming fight involving other fighters. For the most part, you have to take it with a grain of salt for a few reasons. First, fighters seem to find it impossible to give unbiased opinions about a fight because they trained with X, Y or Z. It’s also hard to get a real prediction from them when the outcome of the fight might directly affect them.

Former UFC interim champion Carlos Condit is taking a stab at discussing the Georges St-Pierre vs. Johny Hendricks title fight coming up. Coincidentally, Condit’s last two fights—both losses—came against GSP and Hendricks. So he should have a pretty good idea.

“I think Johny Hendricks has a puncher’s chance,” Condit said. “He’s obviously a big puncher. He’s got the power to make it a short night for GSP, but I feel like GSP is going to out-technique Johny Hendricks. I think his wrestling, and I’m not an expert on wrestling, but I think his wrestling is going to make the difference and Georges is going to be able to take him down and control the fight.”

We’ve heard the GSP is too technical story before. And that may be the case. But as we’ve seen time and time again, sometimes sheer power can be enough. We’ve seen Roy Nelson make a career of it. We saw Chuck Liddell make an even better career out of it. Hell, we even saw St-Pierre fall victim to it against Matt Serra. No one is immune.

So in November at UFC 167, Hendricks will try to do something that no one’s been able to do since Serra shocked the world. At least according to one person who should know, it’s going to take a knockout to do it. Is Condit making the right call here?
