“UFC Fight Night 27:” Random facts & stats you might not care about

UFC_FN_Condit_Kampmann_IIUFC Fight Night 27, also known as Condit vs. Kampmann, is a rare little middle-of-the-week gem for UFC fans. Sure, that means I’ll have to record Shark Tank (please NO spoilers!), but getting to see some pretty good fights on a school night is well worth it.

Even though we have no fewer than three former TUF winners on the show, none of them get me real excited. Still, the main card should be very entertaining. Just to get ready for the event, I ran across some interesting (and some not-so-interesting) facts and trivia about the competitors of Wednesday night’s event.

  • Robert Whittaker could become just the 3rd TUF champ ever to beat 2 other TUF champs (Rashad Evans, Mac Danzig)
  • Court McGee is 2nd only to Cain Velasquez in significant strikes landed per minute (5.95)
  • Donald Cerrone is 5th in that same stat (5.52 sig. strikes landed per minute)
  • Martin Kampmann has attempted 21 submissions in his career (8th all time)
  • Robert (Bubba) McDaniel is the only fighter in UFC history to openly weep about having to fight a guy with a 0-2 UFC record.
  • Court McGee was Jeremy Horn’s 101st career opponent in 2007.
  • A pretty cool women’s fight—Sarah Kaufman vs Sara McMann—was supposed to be on this event.
  • Six of the 12 fights on this card—that’s 12 fighters in all—are at welterweight.
