Anderson Silva & Floyd Mayweather share a mutual disrespect for each other

silvamayweatherOne of my favorite insults is the old “who?” gag. You know what I mean; the not-so-subtle jab where your opponent is so far beneath you (supposedly) that you pretend not to even know who that is. Anderson Silva just played that card with boxing great Floyd Mayweather.

“Floyd Mayweather? I don’t know this guy,” Silva said in a recent interview. “Is he Papa Smurf?” Either he’s joking about Mayweather’s size, or Smurfs are still a relevant pop culture reference in Brazil.

Silva is most likely tossing grenades Mayweather’s way because of a video showing “Money” refusing to answer questions about Silva. Mayweather said, unless he’s been undefeated for 17 years, he doesn’t want to talk about him. He added, “I don’t know that guy.” It actually wasn’t a terribly disrespectful statement, but “Spider” must not have liked it.

“The guy no respect me,” Silva continued. “I respect all the guys in the world. Mayweather is a part of this story in the world. I’m part of the sport in the world. Mayweather need to respect this, but this guy no respect nothing. Sorry, but I no respect Mayweather.”
