Some Facts & Stats about UFC 164 that will Dazzle & Amaze you

UFC_164_Bendo_vs_PettisWe’re only a day away from UFC 164 and there are so many mundane facts and stats that we just can’t wait to get to ‘em. Here are some things you may not have known about several of the combatants in tomorrow night’s event.

  • Clay Guida (+360) is the biggest underdog on the entire card.
  • Benson Henderson has the highest average fight time in UFC history: 20:43
  • Jamie Varner has the 6th highest takedown accuracy ever 65.60%
  • Mir attempted 20 submissions inside the octagon, which is 10th all-time.
  • Chad Mendes gets hit quite a bit. He has absorbed 1.27 strikes per minute throughout his career (9th highest)
  • Guida has fought both main eventers—defeating Pettis and losing a decision to Henderson.
  • Josh Barnett won the UFC title at UFC 36. That was 25 fights ago and 4,181 days ago.  The title has changed 14 times since then.
  • Facebooker Ryan Couture is a 5 time UFC champion and has landed 708 significant strikes and 1337 total strikes in his career.  Which is amazing considering he’s only fought once in the UFC.
  • Ben Henderson will attempt to break the record for most consecutive title defenses for a LW champion. He’s currently at 3, tied with BJ Penn and Frankie Edgar.
  • Henderson’s last fight that DIDN’T go the distance was at WEC 48 (April 2010) when he subbed Donald Cerrone.
  • Henderson’s only other career loss came against Rocky Johnson in March of 07 when he was finished in 46 seconds.
  • This will be Mir’s 22nd fight in the UFC—most by any heavyweight ever.
  • Mir has eight 1st round submissions wins—most ever in the UFC.
  • Guida has landed the 5th most takedowns in UFC history
  • Brandon Vera is one of hundreds of fighters to have NEVER won both the UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight championship simultaneously.
  • Soa Palelei is not making his UFC debut. He was KOd by Eddie Sanchez at UFC 79. His only loss since was to Daniel Cormier.
  • Palelei defeated idiot Bob Sapp in just 12 seconds last year.
