Official_UFC_167_posterSince UFC 167 is shaping up like THE major event of the year, we thought we’d get an early look how this card is shaping up. Our Sneak Peek this time will be courtesy of our partners at ‘Beyond the Cage MMA Podcast.’ Co-host “Dave the Juice” was kind enough to send this our way. I highly recommend following these fellas on Facebook.

UFC 167 is already shaping up to be a great card and we are still over 8 weeks out. This card features title shots, title eliminators and even a win or go home bout, and that is just the main card.
Frank Mir vs. Alistair Overeem. This is an intriguing match up in which you would think the loser will become Bellator’s number 1 contender for their Heavyweight belt. Mir comes in on the biggest losing streak of his career with three straight defeats to arguably 3 of the top heavyweights in the UFC. A fourth loss will most certainly see Mir getting his walking papers. If Overeem thinks he is gonna come in and steamroll Mir like he thought he would do against Bigfoot Silva and Browne I think we may yet again not see “The Reem” talking to Joe Rogan. Juice’s early  pick: Mir by detaching overeem’s right arm in the third round
Josh Koscheck vs Tyron Woodley. Koscheck is gonna walk into the cage on the heels of two losses and Woodley has split his two fights under the UFC banner after having quite the run in Strikeforce and other promotions starting out 10-0. This fight feels like its gonna help setup who would be number 12-13 in the rankings. A win for Woodley over a big name like Josh would go along way in moving up the rankings. While doing research for this fight I noticed that Tyron had made an appearance on Bully Beatdown. I will leave you with this…Is Koscheck a bully and will Woodley beat him down?? (see what I did there)  Juice’s early pick: Woodley by Submission
Robbie Lawler vs Rory MacDonald. This fight has title implications, well lets say if Rory decides to actually fight and not spar like his last fight then a win might earn him a shot at GSP or Hendricks. I think the UFC did a great job with this booking, because if anyone is gonna bring it in a fight; it is Ruthless Robbie Lawler. Since his time back in the UFC he has finished two opponents and we all know Uncle Dana loves that. If he wins again via stoppage does he get rewarded with a title shot? Juice’s early pick: Rory via Sub (cuz some guy at work was looking over my shoulder and told me Robbie can’t win)
Chael Sonnen vs Rashad Evans. This matchup features two fighters who are no strangers to the bright lights and glitz and glamor of the UFC and Las Vegas. With this being the 20th anniversey show these are two quaitly guys that need to be on the show. Would you be shocked to know that Chael has landed more significant strikes then Suga? With that being said if this fight remains standing I do not see Chael lasting to long. Prepare yourselves for a grappling clinic with this fight. Juice’s early pick: Chael wins by dec. and calls out Daniel Cormier or Dominic Cruz or any other Fox Sports employees. (Look out Jay Glazer)
George St-Pierre vs Johnny Hendricks. MAIN EVENT OF THE EVENING!!! This is the fight that all of the GSP haters have been waiting for. Hendricks is the guy that everyone seems to think has the skills to beat the “Unbeatable GSP.”  Well Hendricks definitely earned this shot. 10-1 under the UFC Banner and just now gets a shot. I guess Dana and Sean Shelby didn’t  notice his win streaks of 4 and 6 fights! I think that this fight is gonna be GSP’s toughest challenge of recent memory. He has to prepare for Hendricks great wrestling and his huge knockout power. I think a key to this fight has nothing to do with skill. Can Hendricks handle the pressure of the brightest lights the sport offers. GSP has done this title match thing 10 times now and handles it like a champ. (no pun intended) (maybe a small pun)  Juice’s early pick: GSP by Decision
