catufcWell this is a bit of bad news from Cat Zingano.  The #1 contender posted a video on her Facebook page from her doctor’s office and it seems that while her surgery repaired right knee is healing properly, she may have also damaged her left knee as well.

According to her doctor, the right knee “looks great” and “she’s about three months from getting back in the ring and starting to spar.”

But the left meniscus is another concern. “The only problem is the left knee appears to have somewhere along the line gotten into trouble with a medial meniscus tear,” he continued. “So we’ll confirm that today with an MRI. If she does may have a torn meniscus, she’ll need surgery fairly quickly, so she can get back on track with the rehab.”

The doctor is optimistic however that Zingano’s overall timetable won’t be pushed back any further. He still estimates that she’ll be sparring in three months and fighting in four to six months.

As everyone knows, Zingano earned the slot as top contender to Ronda Rousey’s title by brutally knocking out Miesha Tate. She was also supposed to be the coach for the current season of The Ultimate Fighter. Tate, despite being just 1-2 in her last three fights, slid in the back door to grab both of those opportunities which were originally Cat’s.
