Jones/Teixeira NOT happening at Super Bowl Weekend Event

Jones-TeixeiraWell we thought Jon Jones vs. Glover Teixeira was all set to headline the Super Bowl show—UFC 169—in February. It even appeared on the UFC’s website. I guess the joke’s on us, cuz that ain’t happening now, according to Dana White.

Apparently the UFC media team jumped the gun a little. White grabbed that story by the neck, shook the shit out of it, and slammed it to the proverbial ground by tweeting that the real plans for that fight are to set it for March.

Right now the annual Super Bowl weekend show has only one fight—Frank Mir vs. Alistair Overeem. While that’s a great fight with tons of implications, two heavyweights with a combined 5 straight losses certainly doesn’t carry enough juice (relax…that’s NOT an Overeem reference!) to headline any event, let alone one of the UFC’s most publicized shows of the year.
