Scott_JorgensenIn case you missed the news, longtime bantamweight contender Scott Jorgensen will be dropping to flyweight to face Ian McCall at UFC on Fox 9. He announced his intentions to drop to 125—and the McCall matchup—quietly about a month ago.  That’s an interesting move to say the least.

At 135, Jorgensen has fought a who’s-who of the division from Barao to Faber to Cruz to Wineland. He’s always been competitive and always exciting. At 125, Jorgensen becomes a bigger, stronger guy, comparatively. He spoke to Sherdog recently about the drop and had a few very strong predictions on what’s about to happen in his career.

“When I get down there, I’m going to walk through people. I’m going to hurt people and then I’m going to slowly crawl my way to the top of that 125-pound mountain and prove that everything I did was worth it.”

McCall will be a tough test. He looked great in his last bout with Illiard Santos after dropping fights to the top two fighters in the division, Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavides. It’s even possible this turns into a title eliminator, which would drastically contradict Jorgensen’s “slowly crawl my way to the top” plan. I think he’ll adjust on the fly though
