How did you Score Alvarez/Chandler 2? CompuStrike helps out with hard numbers

Posted: November 4, 2013 in Latest news

internet-statistics_1Eddie Alvarez reclaimed the Bellator lightweight championship over the weekend by earning a split decision victory over Michael Chandler. As with literally EVERY semi-important fight that isn’t a complete one-sided beatdown, there was plenty of bickering about the judges’ scorecards. Two judges scored it 48-47 for Alvarez, and the third scored it the same, but for Chandler.

It’s always interesting to look at the statistics for close fights like this. I always say that it’s nearly impossible for a fan to actually judge a fight while he’s watching it live. There’s way too much you can miss watching a fight in a sports bar (or in your living room) and whether you admit it or not, there’s usually a bias coming into a fight.

Statistics usually don’t lie though. And CompuStirke had all the stats for Saturday’s main event. Take a look. Does it change your mind? Or does it confirm your thoughts?
