Nick DiazBoxing legend Roy Jones Jr. was in attendance for UFC 168 with (reportedly) one thing in mind—to challenge Anderson Silva to a boxing match. Considering the ending of Silva’s fight with Chris Weidman, that boxing bout will be scratched indefinitely. But that didn’t stop Jones from shifting gears quickly. He still wants to box a UFC star.

According to MMA Fighting, Jones expressed an interest in squaring off with Nick Diaz now. Silva was his first choice, he explained, but sine that isn’t going to happen anytime soon, he wants Diaz. Jones said he told Dana White of his idea following the event and White supposedly replied that he’d consider it.

Jones is 44 years old, but is still active. And Diaz has been in some kind of retirement ever since his loss to Georges St-Pierre earlier in the year. He has said he would only come back if he could fight GSP or Silva—neither of which are going to be possible for a while. Perhaps the lure of boxing Jones will sway his thinking.
