WSOFVSBELLATORWorld Series of Fighting (WSOF) just declared war on Bellator. What’s at stake? The tag of being the #2 promotion in the world, according to WSOF exec Ali Abdel-Aziz. I won’t get too excited about this ever coming to fruition, but Aziz is making a pretty bold proposition here.

“If we line up nine of our guys and nine of their guys, I believe we’ll win,” Aziz told the guys on MMA Hour. “Officially on your show, I will challenge Bellator, live on pay-per-view, ten fights—nine-fight challenge, one super fight.”

He even has a complete lineup in mind already.

  • Tyrone Spong vs. Quinton Jackson
  • Anthony Johnson vs. Attila Vegh
  • Andrei Arlovski vs. Vitaly Minakov
  • Marlon Moraes vs. Eduardo Dantas
  • Yushin Okami vs. Alexander Shlemenko
  • Rousimar Palhares vs. Douglas Lima
  • Justin Gaethje vs. Michael Chandler
  • Georgi Karakhanyan vs. Daniel Straus
  • Jon Fitch vs. Rick Hawn
  • David Branch vs. Brett Cooper

Aziz suggested that whichever organization “won” the overall matchup—presumably the one with the most victories—would take home ALL of the PPV revenue and ALL gate receipts. That part of the plan might be more than enough to squash any hopes of this happening, but Aziz says WSOF is definitely in.

“I don’t think they will, but we will, 100 percent,” he said.
