rua hendoFans have been waiting for this rematch for quite some time. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Dan Henderson put on a legendary performance at UFC 139, in a fight many called the fight of the year. Henderson pulled out the razor thin decision, but fans have been clamoring for a rematch ever since. Now, they’ll get their wish.

Brazilian news source, Tatame is reporting that the fight will happen in March with Shogun getting home field advantage this time. The fight will apparently take place at a Fight Night in Brazil.

Things are different this time around for both fighters. Hendo’s victory marked his 4th straight (and 7th in eight fights). He was expected to parlay his hot streak into a title fight with Jon Jones, until an 11th hour injury scrapped the fight—and the entire show. Now Henderson is looking at a three fight losing streak and quite honestly, any fight could be his last.

Likewise, Rua was coming off dropping his title to Jones with a bounce back win over Forrest Griffin. The loss to Henderson was the beginning of a 1-3 stretch for Shogun.

The fight will likely take place March 23 as the main event, but it hasn’t been confirmed by the UFC yet.
