Blizzard could move Super Bowl to Saturday…”That would be a Fucker,” says Dana

DanaVIGRight about now, Dana White must be joining that group of people who originally questioned having the Super Bowl in New York in the winter. That’s because there’s a snow storm coming in that could—I said could—actually make the NFL shift the big game from Sunday to Saturday…the same night as UFC 169.

Can you imagine what that would do to the PPV numbers? Well, White thought about that, and he doesn’t like it at all.

“I’ve been seeing that,” he admitted. “I didn’t know, I don’t keep on that stuff, but I was getting some tweets from people saying, ‘What are you going to do if the game gets moved to Saturday?’ Wow, wouldn’t that be a fucker? Yeah that would hurt.”

Although he seems to be stating the obvious, at least he isn’t trying to pretend that the UFC is bigger than the Super Bowl. With White, that’s always a possibility.

“If 120 million people are watching the Super Bowl on Saturday…let’s just hope that doesn’t happen.”

To say a move like that would crush UFC 169 would be an understatement. Although they never really go head to head, the NFL and the UFC absolutely compete for—and share—the same fan base. Any ‘competition’ between the two is a loser for the UFC.

On a positive note, the NFL has already speculated that a blizzard would have to be a major one to bump the game. Just a couple days ago, a foot of snow dumped on most of New Jersey. If the same type of storm was forecasted for Super Bowl Sunday, they would still play, according to an NFL executive.
