Junior Dos Santos doesn’t even care about Overeem; likes Miocic next

junior-dos-santosIt looks like Junior Dos Santos doesn’t even care why Alistair Overeem turned down two fights with the former champ. Dana White says he’s afraid of Junior; while Overeem himself says he’s just dinged up and needs some time to recover. Either way, Dos Santos isn’t dwelling on it.

“I don’t care about this guy,” Dos Santos today told MMA Junkie. “I don’t care what’s going to happen with him right now. I’m here to fight with anyone in the heavyweight division. It’s like that.”

With limited options right now, it was discussed that the two fights that make the most sense are Stipe Miocic and Josh Barnett. Miocic is coming off back to back impressive wins over veterans Roy Nelson and Gabriel Gonzaga. Barnett, always a contender, just lost to surging Travis Browne. Both would be nice options for JDS, but if he had to choose, he’d rather face Miocic.

“I prefer Miocic,” he said. “I think Miocic is living a very good moment in his career, so it could be a good fight for the people.” For Miocic, a win over Dos Santos would push him to the top of the contenders list in a hurry. A win for Dos Santos means he’s exactly what we thought—likely the 2nd best heavyweight in the world.
