UFC offer to Holly Holm (supposedly) dwarfed by chance to fight boxing champ

hollyholmLooks like the UFC is tossing around nickels as though they were manhole covers. For those of you who are worried that the UFC will be offering Holly Holm an ass load of money to fight Ronda Rousey in the near future, you might be able to breathe easy for now. According to reports, the UFC actually offered Holm peanuts compared to what she could potentially earn in a single boxing match being offered to her.

Legacy FC promoter Mick Maynard claims that Holm’s management will be meeting with a boxing promoter who is pushing hard for a matchup with boxing champion Cecelia Braekhus later this year. The estimated (rumored) windfall awaiting Holm is $250,000. A quarter of a million bones.

Seeing how that big payday seems like a no-brainer, the UFC surely stepped up their negotiating game by dropping a pile of unmarked bills in her lap, right? Umm, not really. Holm’s coach, Mike Winkeljohn says the UFC only offered her $15,000/15,000.

No matter what you think of Holm perhaps leapfrogging several other current contenders to get a large payday, this offer kind of makes me chuckle. A boxing promoter offers her (supposedly) $250K and the UFC counters with $15,000. Yikes. Well, unless the offer gets SIGNIFICANTLY better, or Holm and her team are all complete morons who hate money, I wouldn’t expect this to happen anytime soon.
