Did you catch Bethe Correia’s subtle jab to Ronda Rousey’s posse?

4horsemenI didn’t even catch this at first but now I think it’s pretty cool. Immediately following Bethe Correia’s decision over Jessamyn Duke, she fired off a silent challenge that was sure to rile up the overly-sensitive leader of Duke’s all female faction. Of course Duke is best buds with UFC champ Ronda Rousey. Along with Shayna Baszler and Marina Shafir, the quartet makes up the “4 Horsewoman,” a sloppy rendition of the legendary “4 Horsemen” of pro wrestling fame.

Just before Correia was hoisted up on her cornerman’s shoulders, you can see her hold up 4 fingers—the universal sign for the 4 Horsemenwomen—and then clearly fold one of the fingers down, as if to say, “one down, three to go.”

In the day and age of trash talk becoming almost tiring, this understated gesture was a pleasant surprise. Kudos to Correia for issuing a kick ass challenge without screaming into a microphone and getting all up in my grill. She gets +2 points for subtlety.
