I love being a ring girl around the Midwest, not only is it home for me but some of the local fights that I have seen are some of the most memorable. Two fighters that are a couple of the best around, in my opinion, are Andre ‘The Diva’ Tieva and Kenneth Glenn. They both happen to fight in the SEG (Sterling Entertainment Group) Minneapolis, MN fight circuit and have what I believe to be that ‘X-factor’ so naturally, I tackled them down and got them to answer some questions…

Try to think of one sport where men and women’s sports are truly created equal. Don’t worry, I’ll wait. The NBA and WNBA? No, absolutely not; the NBA will always be far more popular than WNBA will ever be. I honestly couldn’t even name one professional women’s hockey player, softball player, or lingerie football athlete! Tennis is about the only one that I can think of where the men and women may truly be considered equal (and I also find it extremely boring to watch so it still doesn’t count in my mind). Every role model has a role model. Arnold Schwarzenegger looked up to the Mr. Olympia winners before him just as I’m sure Randy Couture looked up to some of the first UFC fighters like Dan “The Beast” Severn. MMA is one of the fastest growing sports in America right now and I especially noticed many young fans, both boys and girls, at the UFC Expo this year. These young fight fans need good, solid, well-rounded fighters to look up to. They need someone that can produce memorable fights inside the cage and maintain professionalism and enthusiasm outside of it. What a great time to be in Vegas!  If you weren’t able to get to the UFC Expo this year I highly recommend you re-prioritize your life and figure out where it’ll be next time and book your reservations now!  I’ve been to Vegas numerous times already this year but I have to say that this was the most memorable time thus far!  I lost my UFC Expo virginity this year and I was blown away at the results (very funny…).  (more…)

New VigilanteMMA columnist Shannon Ihrke will be meeting her fans at the UFC Fan Expo in Las Vegas. The Fan Expo is July 6 and 7 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Shannon will be appearing courtesy of Ranger Up and will be in the Ranger Up booth both days of the event, signing autographs and taking pictures with her fans.
