palharesmemeRousimar Palhares has had his share of troubles in the past. Failed drug tests, unwillingness to release holds in a timely manner, and overall bizarre behavior. Following his most recent UFC fight against Mike Pierce, Dana (more…)

palhares2The new most hated man in MMA has just taken another step in the wrong direction. In case you’ve been in cave the past week or so, Rousimar Palhares was fired over his repeated misconduct while in the UFC. The most recent malfeasance came last week when he (again) held onto a leg lock submission hold too long, potentially injuring opponent Mike Pierce. (more…)

palharesmemeWe have more details on the Rousimar Palhares release. He spoke through his manager and through Twitter and gave his thoughts on the punishment handed down. Palhares’ manager Alex Davis told MMA Fighting, “He says he let go when the ref intervened.” Interesting, because he didn’t.

“He did not mean to injure Pierce, or anyone else for that (more…)

palhares2UPDATE: According to Jeremy Schaap, Dana White has issued a lifetime ban on Rousimar Palhares. I guess that’s what happens when you repeatedly act like a dumbass. I’m guessing he’ll be looking for a fight with Paul Daley next.

UFC Fight Night 29 is now in the books and from what I’ve been hearing, (more…)

palharesLast night we learned that two fighters failed their post-fight drug tests following UFC on FX 6 in Australia. Rousimar Palhares tested for elevated testosterone levels, while Joey Beltran tested positive for nandrolone. Both fighters will have to serve 9 months suspensions according to the UFC’s drug policy. While Beltran is already going with the oft-used “tainted supplement” excuse; I’m guessing Palhares is showing signs of bizarre behavior and confusion right now. Here are my observances on this topic.

  • If Beltran is on roids, he’s not doing it right. Look at his body! (more…)

palhares_vs_lombardUFC on FX 6 sure has an interesting fight in the “leadoff” position, doesn’t it? Ironically, it’s the opening fight of the main card that may garner the most hype in the Western hemisphere—or is the UK in the Western hemisphere too? I always forget how that works. But anyway, the first televised tilt should be of great interest to fans—and great importance to each of the fighters.

While TUF Smashes coaches George Sotiropoulos and Ross (more…)

From the “could’ve seen this coming” department (all readers should collectively roll their eyes while reading this) is this little note about Rousimar Palhares. Apparently—and obviously—he wasn’t quite himself during the Alan Belcher fight. You remember the Alan Belcher fight right? The one where Palhares tries to leg lock Belcher, but couldn’t lock it in…and as a result got his head caved in by Belcher? Yes, that one.

Well there’s a simple explanation for that. He was terribly sick, according to Palhares. “I couldn’t do anything,” Paul Harris told Tatame. “I was too sick. I don’t really wanna talk about it so it doesn’t sound like an excuse and I’m not (more…)

Man, this turned out to be one of the most exciting events in a while didn’t it? Rio didn’t disappoint. The fans were as enthusiastic toward their favorite fighters as they were to swipe the hats off unsuspecting pro fighters who could literally kill them with one swipe of their fist. Must be some form of Brazilian Roulette. Well, we all know there were some big winners in the event–mostly Brazilians. But that means we had some big losers as well. Here’s my list.

Brendan Schaub. Let me start by saying I like Schaub. I think he’s the real deal and will be a force in the heavyweight division for a long time. But I never got the whole (more…)
